Oz decided to start up a band.

He was in England, following the trail of Slayer whisperings and traces of dust that took him across the Atlantic and into the Manor where Giles watched over his burgeoning tribe of Slayers. He wanted to help. Giles let him.

Oz had a lot of his life back, after too many years of traveling without a home, and things had changed for werewolves a little. At least, with so many Slayers around, he was certain he'd never hurt anyone. And there were rumours of a new potions, Wolfsbane or something, that had very, very intriguing affects for three nights out of the month. Giles was looking for it, for him.

Giles. Oz still couldn't quite wrap his mind around the man who smiled more than he ever did in America, or the phrases of songs Oz would catch if he passed by Giles's apartments. The way Giles accepted the affection Oz was prone to giving now was something Oz was so grateful for, because he'd gone so long outside of the company of people he trusted implicitly.

And when Giles sang "1999" under his breath as he was making tea, Oz decided to start up a band.

He went into London and spent five days going in and out of music shops, looking for the perfect bass; his had been pawned long ago. It took awhile, not as long as Oz expected, before a beautiful blue six-string hummed in his hands. It felt like coming home.

Oz put up notices, and after a couple months of tryouts and piecemeal workings, there were five people with the same vibe, and they were doing Sex Pistols covers with a Johnny Rocket vibe. It was good, and no one even asked where Oz when those nights he wasn't chained to a wall in the deep cellars of the Manor.

Sarah, one of the Slayers from Eastern Europe, showed up one night at the club he was playing at. The lead singer, Eron, was bringing home an old Dolly Parton tune with a California swing, and Oz was so into the song and the beat he was pulsing out through his fingers that he didn't notice her until she came up to him later, saying in broken English how good she thought he was. He gave her a ride home, and the next time she showed up with some of her friends. He didn't mind, and the guys teased him for having groupies anyway.

Oz greeted everyone pleasantly, all the Slayers he worked with and who had looked after him for the months he'd been there. But word must have gotten around the Manor faster than he expected, because one night he looked up and there was Giles, staring at him in wonder, as if he recognised something that had been missing for a long time.

That night, he didn't look away from the dark corner of the club where Giles ordered coffee after coffee. When he packed up, Giles came and tapped him on the shoulder, telling him about how well he'd liked the pop song turned into a punked-out call and response, Oz grasped his hand and rested his forehead on Giles's chest, relaxing as Giles cupped his hand around Oz's neck.
